Kells An Post workers win award for remembrance garden dedicated to memory of passed coleagues
Workers at An Post's sorting office in Kells have won an award for a remembrance garden they opened last year dedicated to the memory of four colleagues who passed away.
Catherine Farrell, a post woman from Bailieboro, who came up with the idea told how they wanted to do something to remember their colleagues but also to create a mindfulness space where workers can take five minutes to themselves or have a chat with their colleagues. They opened the garden last summer and were since nominated for a VIP Award by Marion Joyce Internal Communications EXO HQ.
"To be nominated is an honour but to win in this category isnt easy but we are very proud to say we won a VIP award," said Catherine. "On Monday 22nd May, Paula Butler, Chief Administrative Officer with An Post came down to our office in Kells to present staff and our manager with our award and also from our win we requested that two local charities benefit from our €2,000 winnings. To continue to be able to help and support people in our community is very important to us," she added.
A cheque for €1,000 was handed over to Martin Tynan of SoSad Virginia and a second cheque for €1,000 was handed over to David McEvoy of Kells Palliative Care.
