Cillian O’Connor wowed judges including Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent.

Young Mornington magician still on cloud nine after Britain Got’s Talent final finish

Teenage magician Cillian O’Connor scooped third place in the Britain’s Got Talent final.

The 14-year-old Mornington native, said he “felt brilliant” about his result, after wowing judges and the audience with his impressive magic routines - which included making the ITV show’s co-host Ant McPartlin disappear into a cloud of confetti.

Cillian secured 11.8 per cent of the British public vote on Sunday night with his spectacular magic routine.

He said backstage after the results: "I feel brilliant because that's third place out of hundreds of thousands who have auditioned this year. That's a huge achievement for me."

Before his performance on Friday's live semi-final, the teenager had said: "To win Britain's Got Talent would be incredible. I want to inspire other kids with autism that if they put their minds to it, they can achieve anything. Tonight, I want to bring the audience into my world. I've been practising non-stop, and I hope I do enough to get through to the final."

The youngster wowed the judges in his first audition with his impressive magic tricks, heroically overcoming Autism and Dyspraxia to get a standing ovation from the audience and celebrity judges.

The Drogheda Grammar school student tugged on the heart strings with his story of how performing magic had helped him overcome the social awkwardness that came with his autism and brought the judges to tears.

Speaking to the Meath Chronicle at the time, Cillian said:

"It has been my dream to perform on Britain's Got Talent and also to show other people who struggle socially that they should try to find their own magic, something that will help them express themselves be it magic, music, art, etc."

His mother Elaine told of how "speechless" the family were of Cillian’s achievement.

Taking to social media she said: "Thank you so so much to everyone who has supported Cillian’s magic. Wow, we are still in shock. It hasn’t quite sunk in yet, who would have thought.

"We are speechless," she added.
