Darcy seeking snooker glory in Bulgaria

Navan man James Darcy is competing for Ireland in the European Snooker Championships in Bulgaria. The tournament gets underway today.

Darcy is a proud member of St Patrick's Snooker Club in Trim. Snooker has been a lifelong joy for Darcy, having started out playing in the Embassy in Navan at the age of 11.

He will be competing in the senior event along with his teammate Tommy O'Donoghue from Limerick.

The pair previously competed as a team in the world championships in Malaysia last September where they reached the quarter finals losing out narrowly to ex professional James Wattana.

Also travelling in a refereeing capacity for Ireland is treasurer of St Patrick's Snooker Club John Tobin.

Darcy is very grateful for the sponsorship he has received from his club and local Navan businesses including Sharon McHugh (head of PR)and Michael Mulvihill (pictured below) both of Boylesports, Seamus Connolly Catering, Balreask Bar and Paddy Fitzsimons.

The tournament will take from 5th June -17th June and there will be live scoring and streaming online at EBSA TV.
