Leinster rugby fan Colin tells ROG to turn the plane back!

As Leinster prepare to take on La Rochelle in the final of the Heineken Champions Cup in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin this weekend, Heineken Ireland made one fan’s wild idea a reality. Inspired by Heineken's recent Love Rivalry interactive billboard campaign, Leinster 'super-fan' Colin Fennessy from Ratoath wanted to take the banter one step further, and Heineken went all out to make it happen.

Now living in Dunshaughlin, Colin’s message, on behalf of Leinster fans everywhere, came to life in the most epic way - large enough to be read from 30,000 feet on the La Rochelle to Dublin flight path.

The cheeky message for Ronan O’Gara, and his La Rochelle team, reads: “Never too late to turn the plane around, ROG!”.

The mammoth message measures 30m2 and was created with a water-based, degradable paint. Installed by a crew of four, the message is designed to be the first thing rugby fans see on their approach into Dublin city.

After losing to La Rochelle in the final last year, Leinster will be doing everything in their power to get the win and secure their fifth Heineken Cup - and so will their fans, it seems.

Speaking at Ballyboughal Airfield, where the message appeared, Colin Fennessy said: “It’s mad to think that Heineken actually did this with me - I never thought my tweet would lead to this! I’m a die hard Leinster fan and love a bit of friendly rivalry. This takes that to new heights. Come on Leinster!”

The message from Colin, and subsequent flight-path activation, became part of Heineken’s major Love Rivalry campaign for the Heineken Champions Cup.

With thousands of fans expected to descend on Dublin over the next few days, there’s no doubt the visiting rivals are in for an unexpected surprise as they prepare to land in the capital.

The Heineken Champions Cup Final will take place tomorrow, Saturday, in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
