New car share service locations in Meath revealed
A 12-month pilot scheme aimed at providing affordable and sustainable mobility to communities in Navan and Ashbourne has been launched by GoCar, the car sharing service in conjunction with Meath County Council.
GoCar is expanding its vehicle sharing service across the county, with a total of 16 vehicles available for rent by the hour at thirteen different locations – this marks a 60 per cent increase in vehicle sharing availability for local users.
In Navan, the new GoCar locations will be based at O’Mahony’s car park, Boreen Keel, Flowerhill and Academy Street. Existing GoCar locations are also based at Navan Retail Park, Cannon Row, Aisling Place, Lituanica Car Park and Europcar on Academy Street.
Meanwhile in Ashbourne, a new location will be launched on Killegland Street which will compliment existing GoCar locations at the Pillo Hotel and Tesco, Ashbourne. There is also a GoCar available at Tesco in Bettystown.
GoCar allows customers to avail of flexible transport without the ongoing expense or commitment of maintaining a privately-owned vehicle – with vehicle sharing. Users can rent cars and vans from just €10 an hour. Registered users can easily book via the GoCar app, then unlock the vehicle with their phone; the keys are inside the car, with fuel and insurance all included in the rental price. An increasing number of corporate customers are also using the service to meet work-related transport needs and to reduce fleet costs.
Jackie Maguire, Chief Executive of Meath County Council said: “Sustainable Mobility and Active Travel are key components of our long-term goals for a clean, green, sustainable, and healthy county. We are committed to partnering with service providers who share that vision, and we look forward to enabling the expansion of the GoCar footprint in Meath in the years to come.”
