Pop-up pool making a splash in Oldcastle again after act of vandalism caused temporary closure

The Swim Ireland pop-up pool that recently opened in Oldcastle was closed for a day last week due to vandalism.

Sinn Fein TD for Meath West Johnny Guirke condemned the actions by those responsible which resulted in the pool being closed on the14th April.

He said: "Unfortunately, several youths decided to take it upon themselves and have their own fun by breaking into the venue and causing damage to the pool that would see it closed down on Friday. The matter is now with Gardai as the culprits didn’t realise that they were captured on CCTV inside and outside the pool."

Repairs were carried out on Friday and the pool re-opened for bookings the next day.

The pop-up pool will be in Oldcastle for a five-month period until August.
