Argos home delivery to end today ahead of nationwide store closures in June

Argos has announced that its home delivery service will stop today Tuesday, March 22.

The UK company confirmed in January that it is closing all 34 stores in the Republic by June 24, which will see 580 jobs lost.

The move will impact almost 600 people, across 34 stores, including stores in Navan and Ashbourne.

Ahead of that closure, Argos has announced that its home delivery service will stop from today.

The statement read: “We have made the difficult decision to close our Argos stores and online operations in the Republic of Ireland by June 24, 2023.

“Customers can still order Argos products using our Click and Collect service on argos.ie until stores close.

“However, our home delivery service stops on March 22 and we have stopped selling some larger products in stores.

We will continue to honour all home delivery orders placed before March 23.”

Customers can still order Argos products using the Click and Collect service on argos.ie until stores close.

Argos said its aftersales, returns, refunds and exchanges policy will continue to apply until stores close.

Argos opened its first outlet in the Republic in 1996 and announced the closure of Irish operations in January.

"Argos concluded the investment required to develop and modernise the Irish part of its business was not viable and that the money would be better invested in other parts of its business," the company said in a previous statement.

Argos stores in Northern Ireland and the UK are not affected.

Argos Ireland Operations Manager Andy McClelland said the decision to close stores in the Republic of Ireland was not made "lightly".

Speaking on the announcement at the time, Andy McClelland, Argos Ireland Operations Manager, said: “We understand this is difficult news for our customers and colleagues.

"As with any major change to our business, we have not made this decision lightly and we are doing everything we can to support those impacted.

"On behalf of everyone at Argos I would like to thank our colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners for their support to our business.”
