VIDEO: Navan St Patrick's Day parade returns after four year absence

The Navan Shamrock Festival and Parade made a welcome return after a four year absence with the parade starting at the Enterprise Centre and making its way into the town at 2pm.

While the inclement weather deterred many there was still a great crowd along the parade route of Trim Road, Railway Street, Canon Row, Kennedy Road and Market Square and the rain thankfully abated for the duration of the parade.

The extensive roadworks in the town meant the music and stalls that are usually in Kennedy Place were relocated to Trimgate Street. Among those participating in the parade, were local sporting clubs, bands, organisations and parade sponsors.

It was a day of celebration across the region too with parades and events taking place in Athboy, Ballivor, Trim, Enfield, Rataoth, Oldcastle, Kingscourt, Ashbourne, Kells and Ardee, Slane and Kilcock.

Meath Chronicle photographers were at many of the day's parades with full pictorial coverage in this week's paper!
