Dunboyne school going ‘Offscript’ this week

Students at St Peter's College in Dunboyne will go 'Offscript' this week with a two-day celebration of the arts and creativity planned by the school's Creative Schools committee in association with Creative Schools Ireland. The students will get to interact with a variety of professionals in the creative industry over the course of the two days, including actors, authors, filmmakers, dancers, choreographers, painters, musicians, and artisans. The event aims to encourage students at St Peter's College to consider how being creative may affect their decision-making. The goal of this festival, which is the first of its type at St Peter's College, is to broaden students' perspectives, pique their interest, and help them realise their own creative potential.

Among the participants are Tom Moran, a local writer and performer whose most recent solo performance, 'Tom Moran is a Big Fat Filthy Disgusting Liar', made its debut at the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2022 and won the Fishamble New Writing Award; award-winning Irish author Jane Mitchell specialises in writing novels for kids and teenagers. Her most recent work, 'Run For Your Life' was released in Ireland last April and was shortlisted for the 2023 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, to be announced; Dunboyne resident Niall O'Loughlin has sold-out exhibits and has been on a variety of radio and television programmes, including the Late Late Show. He has done commissions for several well-known international and Irish personalities. He formerly worked at Sullivan Bluth Studios on notable projects including 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 'All Dogs Go To Heaven', and 'Help I'm A Fish'. He also served as the principal animator for the critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated series 'Give Up Yer Aul Sins' by Brown Bag Films.

Museum of Literature Ireland (MOLI) has an involvement in the events on Thursday and Friday, with 'Ross O'Carroll-Kelly' author, Paul Howard, also taking part.
