Trim gardai perform lifesaving CPR on young baby

Two members of An Garda Siochána in Trim recently saved the life of a young baby at the local Garda Station.

The Garda Press Office says that in recent weeks, a woman arrived to Trim Garda Station distressed and carrying her three month old baby girl who was unresponsive. The closest hospital would be about 15km away.

Garda Edel Dugdale and Garda Grace Murray were on-duty at the station and immediately responded with lifesaving CPR. The baby regained consciousness and was cared for until paramedics soon arrived.

The quick reaction of both Gardaí combined with their skill and ability to remain calm in this pressurised situation, is a fitting example of the everyday acts that members do to keep people safe, the press office stated.

"We are relieved to know that both baby and mother are now doing well and have fully recovered from what must have been a traumatic experience," the Garda statement continues.

"We’d like to thank this young mother for placing her trust in local Gardaí to help at a time of need."
