'Putting Kells on the right road for generations to come'

The year ahead is very important year for the Kells District. In Kells town we have started the public realm plan. This will be instrumental for the future of the town of Kells and shape how the town will develop in the years ahead. People in Kells will have a major input in to this plan, which will be important in order to tap in to major sources of funding in the future.

The Boyne Valley to Lakelands Greenway that runs through the hearth of North Meath is extremely important to me. I first raised the possibility of this greenway almost 12 years ago and have been working on it ever since. Despite all the set backs and disappointments over the years. I'm am delighted to say that the 30km greenway from Navan to Kingscourt will be fully finished in the year ahead. It will have social and economic benefits not only for the towns and villages along the route but also for the whole North Meath area. It will also play an important part in developing The Boyne Valley further as a tourist destination.

The role out of The National Broadband Plan is extremely important for businesses and households in North Meath. It is a critical piece of infrastructure that is needed for the world we live in today. I'm looking forward to more parts of the Kells District getting connected to high speed fibre in the year ahead.

Many towns and villages have over the last few years tapped in to government funding such as Town and Village, ORIS, Community Hall and Rural Regeneration Funding. They have been a game changer for North Meath. I am delighted to have worked with many successful community organisations who have these applications submitted to the department by Meath CC on their behalf. They have made a major impact on the visual, social and economic landscape of our district. I look forward to the completion of many of these great projects and the application for funding of more wonderful community initiatives in the year ahead.

2023 is indeed going to be an exciting year ahead for the Kells District. I'd finally like to take this opportunity to wish you all a prosperous New Year.
