Watch: Delvin IFA donate generators to Ukraine

The Delvin branch of the IFA have donated € 21,000 to buy generators for the people of Ukraine.

The group purchased the machinery through FBD share dividends as well as contributions from members as David Drum, branch chairperson explains.

"We're delighted to donate generators to the people of Ukraine, we hope they're of great benefit to the people of Ukraine who are going through great suffering at the minute. This wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the the foresight of past members who bought shares in FBD holdings. When the dividends accumulated, which was worth € 17,000 we unanimously decided at our AGM in November to buy the generators with them."

Members of the group also donated an additional € 4,000 to donate to the fund.

Generators are as important as armour in helping Ukraine survive Vladimir Putin’s energy terror this winter, Volodymyr Zelenskiy has told an emergency conference in Paris convened to coordinate infrastructure and humanitarian aid to the country.

"We will do everything to counter the blackout and the energy terror. Most of our power plants are damaged or destroyed by the bombings,” Zelenskiy said in an address to the conference by video link.

“Every day our engineers have to disconnect millions of Ukrainians for these repairs. Currently there are 12 million. And every day we expect new Russian strikes. That’s why the generators have become as important as armour to protect the population"
