Repair work ongoing at Trim Water Treatment Plant

Irish Water has confirmed that the part needed to repair a fault in the Trim Water Treatment Plant, has been received and repair works are under way.

The Trim Water Treatment Plant is in dire need of an upgrade and has been plagued with problems particularly in the last year.

The latest issue, affecting one of the treatment streams, has resulted in night time restrictions on supply for several nights to ensure that an adequate supply can be maintained during the day.

After a breakdown at the plant on the October Bank Holiday Weekend, residents faced two weeks of night-time restrictions before full supply was restored and had hoped that was the end of the water woes in the town until after Christmas at least.

Now less than six weeks later, residents are once again experiencing another spell of night time restrictions on their supply.

Today, Irish Water has confirmed that the Trident Nozzle part required has been received and crews are ready to install and test them.

Further updates from Irish Water are expected later this afternoon.
