Tinseled-up tractors ready for festive trek through Trim

A group of friends dedicated to supporting charity this Christmas is getting their tractors ready for a festive light parade around the town of Trim, this weekend.

Around 100 decorated tractors, as well as fire engines and lorries as well as a marching band are anticipated to attract people out onto the streets this Saturday (17th December).

The Christmas light parade, leaving Oaktree Business Park at 6.30pm, will take place in aid of Prosper Meath, St. Vincent de Paul, Trim Meals on Wheels and the Trim Family Resource Centre, according to Sean Roche from Longwood, who is part of the organising committee.

"There's a committee of about 12 of us who been meeting in my house every Tuesday for the last few weeks to try to get this organised", he said.

"We decided to do something that would help others as well as bring a bit of colour around the place leading up to Christmas. It's more of a Christmas parade than a tractor run so we're asking people to decorate their tractors with festive lights, it should be a great occasion.”
