Devenish present scholarships for St Pat's past pupils

Three past pupils of St Patrick’s Classical School were presented with undergraduate scholarships by Dr Owen Brennan of Devenish at a recent ceremony in Netterville House.

Each scholarship is worth €4,000 per year for a four year study programme. The students present on the day were Ethan Davis and Patrick Flynn. Ethan, who was awarded the 2022 Scholarship, is currently studying Theoretical Physics in Trinity College.

Patrick was the recipient of the 2021 Scholarship and he is also a student of Trinity College. He is studying Biological and Biomedical Sciences. A third student, Evan O’Sullivan was the winner of the 2020 Scholarship and he is currently studying Science Education in DCU.

On the day Ethan and Patrick spoke of the importance of the scholarship in helping them to concentrate fully on their studies. They felt that there were opportunities that they would now be able to avail of such as visiting renowned institutes like the European Gravitational Observatory in Italy.

Dr Brennan praised the diligence and committment of all the recipients, who have not only received excellent grades but have also shown themselves to have a broad range of interests outside the academic.

The ceremony finished with a few words from St Pat’s principal, Colm O’ Rourke who thanked Dr Brennan and Devenish for their continued support and generosity.
