Investigations ongoing into stabbing incident

Gardai have confirmed that they have received a report of a stabbing incident in Trim last night and that investigations are ongoing.

A row broke out in the town centre involving two males and one is understood to have suffered stab wounds.

It is believed that the injured man was taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan by a family member and was subsequently transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

He underwent surgery and remains in hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai were not alerted at the time of the incident and is understood that a report was made a number of hours later. Gardai investigations are ongoing and they are waiting to speak to the injured party.
