Over 350 Ukraine students in Meath schools

Over 350 Ukrainian pupils are currently enrolled in Meath schools, according to latest figures released by the Department of Education. A total of 356 pupils from Ukraine were enrolled in local schools on 1st November, up from 303 a month earlier.

This includes 244 pupils attending primary schools in the county, while a further 112 pupils pupils are enrolled in Meath secondary schools. Nationally, 12,544 pupils from Ukraine were enrolled in Irish schools on 1st November- 7,948 pupils in primary schools and 4,596 in post-primary schools.

To assist with the transition of Ukrainian refugees and their families into Irish schools Regional Education and Language Teams (REALT) continue to operate, hosted by the 16 regional education and training boards around Ireland and staffed by regionally based education support personnel.

These teams are ensuring that clear, accessible information flows are in place between schools, local education support services and national support structures in relation to people arriving from Ukraine.
