More water woes in Trim as Púca Festival at its height

Restrictions announced due to 'operational issues' at water treatment plant

With the Púca Festival at its peak, Irish Water and Meath County Council have announced that an "essential, overnight restriction" is required tonight in Trim and surrounding areas to help water levels in Brayhill Reservoir recover. This restriction is necessary following operational issues at Trim Water Treatment Plant.

To help reservoir levels recover and maintain a sufficient water supply to homes and businesses during normal working hours, water supply will be restricted from 10pm tonight, Sunday 30th October until 9am tomorrow morning. Customers in the following areas may experience disruptions to their water supply to include reduced pressure, outages and/or discolouration: Trim, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown, Effernock, Carberstown, Blackfriary, Crowpark, Clonbun, Rathmolyon, Summerhill and surrounding areas. It can take two to three hours following restrictions for normal water supply to be fully restored to all areas.

Michael Cunniffe, Operations Lead with Irish Water said: “Irish Water understands the inconvenience restrictions cause to customers. This overnight restriction is necessary to ensure enough water is available for residents and businesses for hygiene and other essential purposes during the day. We are appealing to customers to continue with every effort to conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water/conserve.
