Blustery, showery day ahead with risk of spot flooding

Blustery and showery today. Frequent heavy and potentially thundery showers with hail, mainly in the west this morning, becoming widespread for the rest of the day. Spot flooding is likely in any heavy downpours. Becoming windy as fresh to strong and gusty southwest winds develop. Cold in the wind, with highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Windy early in the night with showers persisting for a time, bringing further heavy falls to some parts. Turning drier overnight as showers become isolated. Winds easing light to moderate southwesterly overnight. Turning cold with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.

A calm, bright, and mostly dry start tomorrow morning. Cloud will build from the south through the day, bringing outbreaks of heavy rain during the afternoon and evening. Rain will reach the northeast in the evening. Becoming breezy with the rain as southeast winds increase moderate to fresh. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees.

Rain will clear northwards overnight on Sunday, with clear spells following. Showers will continue in the west and northwest. Breezy with moderate to fresh southerly winds, strong along coasts. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees, coolest in Ulster.

A dry start to the coming week, with unsettled conditions returning from midweek onwards.

A drier day on Monday with spells of sunshine and some showers in the north. Breezy at first with moderate to fresh southwest winds, easing mostly light later. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Monday night is expected a cold, dry and mostly clear night. Some mist and fog will develop in light easterly or variable winds. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, milder in the south.

A good deal of dry weather is forecast for Tuesday with sunny spells for most, though it will turn cloudier through the day with some light rain and drizzle in southern areas. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in moderate to fresh easterly winds.

A breezy, mostly dry and clear night on Tuesday with cloud, rain or drizzle lingering in southern areas. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh easterly winds.

Mostly dry on Wednesday with sunny spells over the northern half over the country. Rain, heavy at times, will slowly push northwards from southern area through the day. Another windy day with fresh to strong easterly winds. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees.

Further outlook: Remaining unsettled late into the week, though current indications suggest high pressure will build for the weekend, bringing mostly dry and settled weather.
