Stephen Crosby has been the driving force behind Drumconrath’s Junior B FC bid.

Three in the hunt for two knockout places

JUNIOR B FC PREVIEW

With still two rounds to go in the Junior B FC there are two teams assured of their place in the last four and three sides still in the reckoning for the last two sports.

St Brigid's and Drumconrath are already safe into the semi-finals and with Kilmainhamwood's campaign over they have an anxious wait to see if they can be caught.

Kilmainhamwood's biggest threats to their semi-final place are Cortown and Slane, but a Cortown win when those side meet this weekend would ease those worries.

A Slane win over Cortown would send the qualification process down to the last round where high flying St Brigid's will face Cortown, while struggling St Mary's will face Slane.

If Slane beat Cortown then Slane will move onto six points and Cortown will stay on five. However a Cortown win over St Brigid's on the last day would move them onto seven and by virtue of their (as it stands) better scoring difference Cortown would go ahead of the 'Wood.

Lots of ifs and buts and still plenty to play for.

Drumconrath v St Brigid's: It is hard to see anyone beating St Brigid's, although Slane did go close. Expect the Ballinacree side to regain their focus and secure top spot. Verdict - St Brigid's.

Cortown v Slane: Very tough one to call. Cortown drew with Kilmainhamwood, Slane lost to the 'Wood. Slane ran hot favourites St Brigid's to within a point, so it is that line of form that might give them the edge. Verdict - Slane.
