Showers for the next few days

Weather update from Met Éireann

Generally unsettled for the next few days with rain and showers, potentially turning wet and breezy later in the weekend.

That's the latest bulletin from the national weather forecaster.

Dry for most this morning with just well scattered light showers. Rather cloudy in the north and east with the best of the sunny spells in the west and southwest. The showers will become more isolated through the day with more sunny spells developing towards evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees, mildest in the south, in moderate to fresh north to northeast winds, strong on exposed coasts.

Largely dry tonight with a mix of cloud and clear spells along with a few passing showers. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 11 degrees with north to northwest winds easing light to moderate.

Dry for most of tomorrow morning (Wednesday) with hazy sunny spells. A few isolated showers will persist in parts of the northeast and east. Later in the morning, cloud will build from the west with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle following in the afternoon, gradually extending over Ulster and Connacht through the evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 21 degrees, coolest in the northwest and mildest in the southeast, in light northerly breezes, gradually backing westerly.

Wednesday night is expected a humid night with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle continuing to extend across the country. Temperatures won't fall below 9 to 13 degrees with moderate south to southwest winds developing

A dull and damp start on Thursday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, possibly turning heavy at times in the southwest. A clearance to long spells of sunshine and scattered showers will follow behind from the west, extending across the country by mid-afternoon. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in mostly moderate southwest winds.

Thursday night will see long clear spells along with scattered showers at first, becoming mostly confined to Atlantic coastal counties during the night. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with southwest winds easing light to moderate.

Good sunny spells and scattered showers expected on Friday, with occasionally heavy falls in parts of the north. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Saturday will see sunny spells at first with along with a few showers. Cloud will build in from the west through the morning with scattered showers developing. Towards the evening rain will push in from the west along with strengthening winds. Another day of sunny spells and mostly light scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in moderate to fresh west to southwest winds.

There is some uncertainty in the forecast for Sunday but current indications suggest that it will be a wet and breezy day with fresh southwest winds. Widespread rain will persist for much of the day before giving way to showers. Highest temperatures generally of 18 to 22 degrees.

Further Outlook: Showery conditions will persist into early next week with more settled conditions developing from midweek. Highest temperatures generally ranging from 16 to 20 degrees.
