Dunboyne open defence with victory

Champions Dunboyne had to do it the hard way against Boardsmill last night, but they eventually managed to open the defence of their Ladies SFC title with a narrow 6-7 to 4-10 victory over Boardsmill.

Without the services of Vikki Wall Dunboyne struggled to impose themselves on a Boardsmill side that have struggled in recent years, but with Emma Troy in fine form Boardsmill were a transformed unit and led by a point at half-time, 2-4 to 2-3.

However, Dunboyne slowly grew into the game with Emma Duggan amongst the goalscorers in their fine win.

Navan O'Mahonys marked their return to the senior ranks with a hugely impressive 4-11 to 2-12 victory over Oldcastle, while in the other SFC games Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels were too strong for Seneschalstown, winning 3-15 to 1-11, and Kelly Harris and Kelsey Nesbitt were amongst the goals as Simonstown defeated Donaghmore/Ashbourne 2-7 to 1-7.

In the IFC the three leading contenders all got off to winning starts with Skryne seeing off Na Fianna 3-7 to 0-11, while Summerhill were too strong for Dee Rangers by 4-13 to 3-7 and St Colmcille's edged out rivals Ratoath 3-9 to 4-5 in a thriller.

The other game in the IFC finished level with Clann na nGael, without the services of Orlagh Lally, surviving to claim a 0-7 each draw with St Michael's.

In the JFC Walterstown hit a stunning nine goals as they defeated Moylagh 9-9 to 1-5, while there was also a comprehensive 1-24 to 0-5 win for Moynalvey over Dunsany.

St Ultan's began their journey back to the top take with a 2-10 to 0-9 victory over Duleek/Bellewstown and the other game in the championship between Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels B and St Patrick's is due to be played this evening.
