Farganstown lands being marketed for hi-tech and distribution sectors

Lands earmarked for job creation at Farganstown Navan are being marketed by Meath County Council for high technology uses, warehousing and distribution.

New access to the land in question has been created with the opening of the new Thomas Hodget Road.

At a meeting of Navan Municipal Council last week, Cllr Eddie Fennessy had asked the Executive for an update on the development of a Strategic Employment Zone on council owned lands at Farganstown.

He was told the council continues to promote these lands, which were designated as a Strategic Employment Zone (E1) suitable for high technology uses/warehousing/distribution.

Clr Fennessy recalled that when he submitted a motion on the Farganstown site in 2018, access was the biggest obstacle to getting it up and running.

“That barrier has been overcome with the construction of the Hodgett Road and it would be good for the town if we could start developing trade there as quickly as possible.

“The sites proximity to the motorway, the N3 and N2 make it an attractive place to trade from.

“Not to mention the 1,700 houses planned for development around the site over the next few years. The potential for local employment will be welcomed by the communities who make their homes there I'm sure,” he said.

The road runs from the junction of the R153/Metges Road to access zoned land between the Kentstown Road and the Navan – Drogheda Rail Line.

The Council’s master plan will see the area becoming a strategic employment zone for high value jobs and will support the creation of a ‘live-work’ community in Navan.
