Temperatures return to normal as wet weekend promised

Temperatures remaining around normal for the rest of the week. However, it will turn wetter this weekend. That's the latest outlook from Met Éireann.

A mostly cloudy and fresh start to today with some well scattered showers. However, the cloud will slowly thin out, allowing some sunny spells to develop with mostly dry conditions generally. Temperatures will be around normal with highs ranging 15 degrees in the northwest to 21 degrees in the southeast, all in moderate northwest breezes.

Most areas staying dry tonight under broken cloud but with some mist and fog setting in. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees in just light variable breezes.

Thursday will bring a mix of cloud and some sunny spells. Whilst it will be mostly dry, some well scattered showers will occur too with some heavier ones possible in the southeast later. Highest temperatures will range 15 to 20 degrees in mostly light northerly or variable breezes.

Most areas will be dry overnight on Thursday with a mix of cloud and clear spells. Some well scattered showers too, most likely across the southeast. Lowest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with some mist and fog forming in a light variable breeze.

Friday will be dry with warm sunny spells developing. Just a few light passing showers across the south and west of the country. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in light variable breezes.

Rain and drizzle will very slowly push up from the southwest on Friday night with some heavy bursts possible. A mild night with lowest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees in light to moderate southwest winds.

Saturday is promised a rather wet day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving up across the country in a moderate southerly airflow. The rain will be heaviest and most persistent in the west and north, but some sunny spells developing in places too. A warm and humid day with highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees, warmest across the midlands and the east.

Further falls of rain are expected Saturday night with some heavy bursts possible. Very mild and humid with hill and coastal fog.

Sunday is forecast to be a breezy day with scattered outbreaks of rain. Some warm sunny spells too though. Highest temperatures of 17 to 24 degrees, best values across the eastern half of Ireland.
