Weir steps down as Meath hurling boss

Meath GAA are on the hunt for another senior team manager following this afternoon's news that Nick Weir will not be seeking a new term to manage the Meath senior hurlers in 2023.

With the search to find Andy McEntee's replacement as Meath senior football manager still ongoing, the Meath GAA Co Board's workload has just doubled as they are now on the look out for a new manager to guide Meath to Christy Ring Cup success in 2023.

Meath lost their Joe McDonagh Cup status this year, and will operate from NHL Div 2B after also suffering relegation in the league.

It is unclear if highly regarded coach Seoirse Bulfin will remain involved with the Meath hurlers as it will be the prerogative of the new Meath senior hurling manager to appoint his own management team.

The statement on the Meath GAA website read:

Meath GAA wishes to announce that Nick Weir has informed the County Committee that he is standing down from his role as our senior hurling team manager.

All involved in the Meath Gaelic games community thank Nick and all his backroom team for their tireless efforts and dedication over the last two years.

The Meath Hurling Promotion and Development Committee wish Nick and his team every success in his future endeavours.

Meath GAA will start the process of seeking a new senior hurling team management.

Go raibh maith agaibh.
