The mercury could hit the 30s, but this weekend will be all about the 80s!

It's promising to be one the best parties of the Summer and as loud, colourful and flamboyant as some of the outfits of the era.

Forever Young Festival - where the 80’s comes alive is back - kicks off today (15th July) and blasts until Sunday (17th July) in the sprawling grounds of Palmerstown House Estate, Co Kildare and there are some tickets still available according to organisers.

Among the iconic acts confirmed for the weekend nostalgia-fest include Marti Pellow of Wet, Wet, Wet fame and Carol Decker/TPau who will be joining the line-up again this summer!! Holly Johnson of Frankie Goes to Hollywood will headline Saturday night.

Awarded ‘Best Line Up’ and ‘Best Medium-Sized Festival’ in Ireland (2019). Eighties icons such as OMD alongside an array of fellow luminaries and a star-studded line up of over 30 original iconic artists. Tiffany, Paul Young, Haircut 100, Wendy James, Nik Kershaw, Bananarama, Paul Carrack, The Christians, In Tua Nua, Heather Small, 5 Star, Then Jerico are also on the bill.

A spokesperson for Forever Young said the weekend would be a "mixtape weekend where colleagues, friends and family can relive their youth, pull on their leg warmers and ra ra skirts, don the shoulder pads, roll up their suit sleeves along with mirrored aviator shades, and enjoy the 80’s all over again."

"This is a trip in a time machine, and true to their era, a classic DeLorean and Knight Rider ‘Kit’ car welcomes you at the main arena entrance. The retro gaming tent is another nostalgia fest with Space Invaders, Pac man, all the original arcade games that set the foundation of all gaming."

"Covid has been hard on so many, it’s time to let the hair down, loosen the stress levels and get lost in the music of our favourite era. The huge site allows for a spacious layout, so bring your camping chairs and blankets! The festival is set on 900 acres, so no one needs to crowd together if they are Covid wary."

"Combine the incredible experience with luxury camping, flushing toilets, on-site glamping with comfortable beds, duvets, and power to charge your devices so you can be sure to take as many photos as possible to cherish the memories, hot showers, and golf buggy lifts around the site. Forever Young strives to make your comfort and enjoyment their number one priority.

The climate-aware run event was originally launched solely to raise funds for new animal welfare charity “Animal Welfare and Veterinary Care Ireland”, (charity no: 20206152). Single-use plastics are fully banned on site, so the beautiful grounds stay clean, festival-goers don’t walk through a sea of waste, none of the waste goes to landfill, this is a festival with a heart and a conscience.

There are some tickets still left for what will most likely be, in every sense, one of the hottest gigs of the Summer. For tickets, camping packages and transport information see the website www.foreveryoungfestival.ie
