Somba and Costello show up well in Braveheart run

The distinctive red and white singlets of Trim AC were prominent as the club held it's annual Braveheart 5k run.

Peter Somba finished the race ahead of the field while Ava Costello claimed the ladies event at the famous Porchfields in Trim last evening.

Somba won in a time of 15.43 and he was followed home by Rory O'Connor from North Cork while Costello's time was 18.47 with Trim's Edel Gaffney second.

Kian Magee Navan AC claimed the junior men's title while Kym McGrath was best in the junior women's.

It was a very productive evening for the host club with Tom Conlon claiming the M40 while Sean Murphy took the M50 event.

The M50 ladies race was also claimed by a Trim AC runner, Helen Hartnett with Maggie Higgins second.

Bohermeen's Dave O'Connell was best in the M55 with Imelda Clarke (Na Fianna) heading the field in the W55.

There was also local success for Trim AC's Pat Corcoran in the M60 with Marie Reilly (Navan AC) leading the field home in the W60.
