Kilmessan on the move

Kilmessan Hurling and Camogie club are staging a 24-hour Community Walkathon on Friday 20th May and Saturday 21st May to raise money for the juvenile pitches.

The organisers also point out that 25 per cent of money raised will go towards Ukrainian Charities. The Walkathon is open to everyone with the walk gettng under way on Friday 20th May 6pm. The Walkathon finale will be from 3pm to 6pm on Saturday.

As part of the fund-raising drive the Healthy Club initiative will be launched on Saturday around 6pm at the finale of the Community Walkathon.

On the day there will be a BBQ, games and medal presentations.

Kilmessan have invested heavily in improving their facilities in recent years with the provision of juvenile pitches part of the modernisation drive.

Also included in the plan has been the installation of new main pitch and walking track.

Earlier this year Kilmessan staged a Kehoe Cup hurling game between Meath and Carlow when the work done up to that stage was on view.

It was estimated then by great Kilmessan clubman Paddy Horan that it will cost between €400,000 and €500,000 to complete all the development work.
