On Tuesday morning, 3rd May, shortly after 10am, two men called to a house the Bohermeen area and produced what appeared to be a Garda ID badge, with a story about trying to locate the owner of missing property.

The man let them in and after they had left, he discovered that his wallet had been taken from his jacket.

The two culprits left in what was described as a blue Mazda 3 car with a 09 D registration.

Anyone who noticed suspicous activity or with any information on the incident is asked to contact Navan Garda Station on (046) 9031666.

This follows another incident when two men, posing as gardai, called to the home of an elderly man in Oldcastle on Tuesday morning of last week and demanded cash from him.

Kells Gardai are investigating the incident which occurred in the Ballineal area of Oldcastle at around 11.55am on Tuesday, 26th April.

One of these men produced what looked similar to a Garda badge. The injured party handed over an amount of cash, which was on his person.

The suspects then left the scene in what was described as a blue coloured old style saloon car.

Both males are described as being approximately 6 ft tall, both aged in their 40’s, with local accents.

Anyone who may have been in the area at the time and noticed any persons or vehicles acting suspiciously or anyone who may have dashcam footage, are asked to please contact Kells Garda Station on 046 9280820.

Gardai are advising people that if they are in any doubt about the true identity of callers purporting to be gardaí, to contact their local Garda Station or call 999/112.

Gardai are investigating whether this incident is related to previous incidents across the county in recent months where bogus callers claimed to be Gardai.

There were also similar incidents before Christmas in Rathmolyon, Oldcastle and Dunsany.
