Summerhill pair Lynch and O'Shea scoop awards

What a week it has been for Mary Kate Lynch.

The Meath full-back was one of the seven players from the Royal County selected on the Ladies National Football League Div 1.

The team was announced on Monday with Lynch included along with colleagues Monica McGuirk, Emma Duggan, Vikkie Wall, Orlagh Lally, Shauna Ennis and Emma Troy.

Lynch was also named the Maynooth University 'Ladies Player of the Year' at the university's awards event on Tuesday night.

It proved to be a double success for Summerhill at the awards ceremony as club player Jamie O'Shea was nominated as Maynooth University's 'Young Player of the Year' making it a memorable occasion for him also.

Lynch has emerged in recent years as a central figure in the Meath team that won an All-Ireland last September in dramatic circumstances and followed it up with the Div 1 title a few weeks ago.
