Ashbourne seek to break through Mullingar's defensive cover in today's semi-final.

Broughton's Boys through to Towns' Cup showdown

They didn't make the best of starts but once they got going there was no stopping Ashbourne in today's Provincial Towns' Cup semi-final at North Kildare RFC.

They defeated Mullingar 23-15 despite going 0-9 down early on. At the break Ashbourne still trailed 10-12 with Alan Wall breaking through for a try converted by Kelan Toolan who also added a penalty later on for the team under head coach Scotty Broughton.

Dominant in the scrums Ashbourne continued to press forward in the second-half and they made a huge breakthrough on 73 minutes when Conor Hurley surged over for a try, converted by Teelan.

Earlier in the half Teelan had also landed two big penalties to help put his team on the road to victory.

Stuart Flynn scored all Mullingar's scores from penalties.

Ashbourne now face Kilkenny in the final on 17th April at Cill Dara RFC.
