Burst water mains affecting supply to Windmill Reservoir

Irish Water has identified a burst to a trunk water main supplying Windmill Hill Reservoir located on the N2, Boolies, Duleek and is working with Meath County Council to complete repairs as quickly as possible.

Irish Water says that whilst every effort is being made to maintain supply to customers, the burst may impact water supply to customers in Windmill Hill, Rath, Ratoath, Kilbride, Ashbourne Centre, Slane Road, Tudor Grove, Garden City and Milltown Road.

Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are underway and are expected to be completed by 6pm this evening.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

To ensure the safety of the public and crews carrying out the repairs to the burst, traffic management is currently in place. Local and emergency access will be maintained.

Michael Cunniffe, Irish Water, commented: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area. Irish Water understands the inconvenience caused when bursts occur and thanks customers in advance for their patience while we continue with these repairs and work to restore normal water supply to impacted customers.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Irish Water receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
