Passing of Delvin publican and undertaker, Carmel Gaffney

The death has occurred of Delvin publican and undertaker, Carmel Gaffney.

Formerly of Ballyminion, Longford Town, Carmel died yesterday in her 90th year, at Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar.

Predeceased by her husband Pat, brothers Tom, Mike, Hubert and Noel, sisters Essie and Peggie, she is survived by her family, John, Mary, Camillus and PJ, grandchildren Mark, Peter, Joe, Conor, Niall, Saoirse, Karen, Sean, Darragh, Cathy and Alan, great-grandchildren Charlie, Lauren and Noah, daughters-in-law Martina and Sandra, brothers in law Jim Gaffney (Dublin) and Jimmy Dodds (Birmingham), sisters in law Ann Flanagan (Ballyminion) and Ann Flanagan (Birmingham), nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, neighbours and her many good and dear friends.

The Gaffney family acknowledged the excellent loving care extended to Carmel by the management and nursing staff in St Camillus Nursing Centre, Killucan, during her stay there.

Carmel is reposing in St Camillus Nursing Centre Chapel, Killucan, on Saturday afternoon from 4pm, concluding with Mass at 6pm. Funeral Mass takes place in The Church of the Assumption, Delvin, on Sunday at 1pm, followed by burial in the local cemetery.

The family request full compliance with Covid restriction guidelines which are still in place by the wearing of face masks, refraining from hand shaking and observing social distancing where necessary while attending at St Camillus Nursing Centre, the funeral Mass and cemetery.
