Fairyhouse Vaccination Centre to close
The vaccination centre at Fairyhouse Racecourse will close tomorrow.
Due to a large reduction in the numbers requiring vaccinations centres nationally, Midlands Louth Meath Community Healthcare Organisation has taken the decision to close the facility. This centre was opened in July 2021 in response to large numbers of people presenting for vaccines in Meath.
The vaccination centre in Simonstown Gaels in Navan will continue to provide a service for the population of Meath.
With 10 vaccination booths available, Simonstown has capacity for up to 1,000 vaccinations a day. Currently the opening days in Simonstown are Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 noon to 7pm, Thursdays and Sundays from 8.30am - 5pm. These opening days and times can/will be increased as and when demand increases.
Vaccination is by using the on line HSE vaccination self-scheduler. Registration is currently available at vaccine.hse.ie. A PPS Number, Eircode, mobile phone number and email address are required for registration.
Members of the public who received their first doses at Fairyhouse, will receive their second doses and booster at Simonstown.

Meath is a big county with a sizeable population and the addition of Fairyhouse to complement our centre in Simonstown enabled us to quickly and safely vaccinate a very large number of people. This move is another sign of the reopening of society and shows how far we have travelled in our efforts to deal with Covid19.
"It is also important to acknowledge the work and commitment of all our staff at Fairyhouse who supported the delivery of the vaccination programme at the centre. They have worked tirelessly to vaccinate our communities as speedily and safely as possible. The number of people vaccinated – more than 60,000 vaccinations administered in the space of nine months – tells its own story and speaks volumes of the huge effort made by staff.
"The support and cooperation of colleagues across the wider HSE, as well as from local representatives was also very welcome.
"I would also like to thank the people of Ratoath and South Meath and all of the members of public for availing of the facility to get vaccinated to protect themselves, their families and loved ones and their communities. Vaccines are working and are helping to prevent severe illness across Ireland. We are still operating our Community Vaccination Centre in Simonstown and I would urge those who remain unvaccinated to please avail of this service,” he said.
