Ava Vox launches debut album 'Immortalised'

Enfield artist launches new album

Enfield alternative rock artist Ava Vox launches her first album 'Immortalised' with a gig in the Thomas House, Thomas Street, Dublin 8, tonight at 8pm.

Ava Vox, whose real name is Elaine Hannon, has already released two singles from the album, 'Crash' and 'Alone Again'.

The album features contributions by bassist James Blennerhassett (Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithful, Van Morrison), drummer Robbie Casserly (Elvis Costello, Mark Knopfler, The Commitments) and a 23-Piece String Ensemble from Sofia, Bulgaria.

Post-Punk.com says Ava is "channeling the passion of Sinéad O’Connor with the raw delivery of Patti Smith" while The Spill Magazine writes, "folks are in for a pleasant shock in the same way they may have felt upon hearing Siouxsie and the Banshees for the first time".

As well as looking forward to the album launch, Ava says she can't wait to get back on stage with her band. Special Guest at the launch will be DJ Terry Darklands

"It has been the most exciting journey, co-producing my first album, working alongside the most extremely talented well-known musicians, and artists. I just cannot wait for the launch of my album ‘Immortalised’ and to share it with the world," she said.

“Myself and my band are just so super excited, at long last we are able to look forward to gigging again. The launch gig of the album 'Immortalised' will also be a real celebration for us getting back on stage again.”

Before Covid struck, Ava worked as a genealogist/probate researcher - one of her many careers over the years.

“Before the Covid Pandemic hit Ireland back in March 2020, I had a successful small research business in Enfield. I was a singer in a new alternative rock band and we were just getting ready to gig. We had a gig booked in for the end of March 2020 in the International Bar, in Dublin. Due to the Covid restrictions, suddenly I had to close my business and eventually with a heavy heart in July 2020, had to leave the band, as it was too difficult to keep it going, especially not being able rehearse or gig.”

But she said that when one door closes another door opens and in August 2020, she decided to go solo as an independent artist, and Elaine's alter ego Ava Vox was born.
