Shaun on the set of 'The holiday"

Navan man stars in new TV show tonight

A young Navan man will star tonight in a new television drama 'The Holiday' on Virgin Media One.

Shaun O'Callaghan, a sixth year student of Colaiste na Mi in Navan plays the lead role of 'Jake' in the Channel Five series 'The Holiday,' which is based on the book by TM Logan.

Shaun, a son of Deborah O'Callaghan and Brian Wade spent six weeks filming the series in Malta last summer and just loved the experience.

“It was amazing, the best thing I ever did in life,” he said on his return.

Shaun first got the acting bug when he was in sixth class in St Stephen's National School.

He played Doody in Grease when he was just 13 and that is when he realised that he just loved performing.

Shaun then got involved with the Act Out Youth Programme in the Solstice Theatre where his love of theatre grew.

“We would create shows and characters and then act them out,” he recalls.

Shaun also attended classes in the Gaeity Theatre and has now acquired an agent, who has been putting him forward for auditions, including 'The Holiday”.

The Holiday is a four part series with hour long episodes.

He had to travel to Malta for filming which took place over six weeks and had to produce negative Covid-19 tests and quarantine when he came home.

His school is very much behind him and principal Paddy Carr has congratulated Shaun and his family.

The Holiday is based on the crime novel of the same name by TM Logan which was published in 2019 and airs tonight at 9pm on Vigrin Media One.
