Repairs underway on Rathcairn water main

Irish Water has mobilised crews to quickly restore water supply for customers in Irish Water has mobilised crews to quickly restore water supply for customers in Rathcairn and surrounding areas following a burst water main.

The burst is impacting the water supply to homes and businesses in Rathcairn, Lambay, Mitchelstown and Tullaghanogue but Irish water says every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible.

Dedicated water service crews have mobilised and repairs are almost complete. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

To ensure the safety of the public and crews carrying out the repairs to the burst, traffic management is in place and clearly signposted.

Michael Cunniffe, Irish Water, commented: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water for all customers. We understand the inconvenience bursts can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”

Meanwhile, customers in Beauparc and surrounding areas are advised of potential disruption tomorrow (Wednesday), due to essential maintenance works at the water treatment plant.

While works are underway customers in Beauparc,Cullen, Dollardstown, Painestown, Seneschalstown, Ardmulchan, Hayestown, Thurstianstown, Carnuff Little, Fennor and Slane may experience temporary low water pressure and/or outages between 9:30am and 5:30pm. When works are completed it may take two to three hours for normal water supply to return to all customers. It is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.

Michael Cunniffe said, “Irish Water and Meath Council understands the inconvenience caused and thanks customers for their patience while these necessary works are underway to help secure the plant. We will work to restore full supply as quickly as possible once these maintenance works are completed.”
