Keep me a Seat - A poem for anyone missing someone over Christmas

If I cannot be with you

Keep me a seat.

Leave out my slippers

Pour me a treat.

If you're missing my gift

Wrapped under the tree

Take down a memory

Only you shared with me.

If you are lacking in spirit

Or heavy in heart

Know I am with you

That's a good place to start.

It may not be easy

Feeling so far apart

Nobody is expecting you

To fine tune your heart.

If you could see me this Christmas

What would you say?

I would tell you I am proud of you

Please my love enjoy each day.

There are many meanings to this season

None come wrapped in bows.

Instead they are wrapped in experiences.

The Presents only presence knows.

If I cannot be with you

Keep me a seat

Take out a memory

Share one of me.
