Wolfe Tones players celebrate after winning the u-20 A FC final.

McDermott leads Wolfe Tones to more silverware

Leading almost all the way Wolfe Tones signed off on a remarkable year for the club when they claimed the u-20 A FC title at Skryne.

At the break the Tones led opponents Seneschalstown 1-4 to 0-2 before pushing on to deservedly win the silverware.

Once more Micheal McDermott was in charge of the Tones' voyage to victory. Early last month he led the club's seniors to a Keegan Cup success.

The Tones' were hugely helped by two goals from captain Tom Gavigan with Oisin Martin also finding the net in the second-half.

Martin finished with 1-2 while Joe Smith registered three points, with Evan Corrigan and Kyle Moran also raising white flags - but it was the goals that proved a huge factor in helping the Tones across the line.

Seneschalstown struggled to get into the game until the last quarter when they really started to motor but they found the Tones' defence difficult to break down.

Sean Commons capped a hugely enterprising display with eight points, six frees but they were unable to get a goal or two that would have really ignited their challenge.
