Hoops edged out in hunt for title

Sometimes it just doesn't happen for a team and today was one of those days for Trim Celtic.

Their hopes of landing the Premier title were all but dashed at Tully Park when Alan Murphy's side lost 0-3 to Muirhevna Mor who look certain now to win the crown.

An own goal added to strikes from Thomas McShane and Mickey O'Kane (penalty) ensured the Dundalk side won what was, effectively, a league decider.

Trim Celtic had their chances with Brian Faulkner presented with a great opportunity in the opening half but he headed wide. Callum Ennis also had a header cleared off the line.

The home side played never played to their full potential with a fired up Muirhevna Mor taking full advantage.

Muirhevna Mor play Parkvilla on Wednesday night and a win or a draw will ensure they take the league title.

If somehow they don't win or draw, Trim Celtic will play Parkvilla in their last game and if they win that game there will be a play-off. If the Louth club take the title Trim Celtic play Rock in the Kilmessan Shield final next Sunday.
