Meath Garda Youth Awards

Special Merit Award - Robert Barcoe, Kilcloon

Robert Barcoe from Kilcloon is 13 years-old and attends St Peter's College in Dunboyne.

When the nomination was received, Robert was only completing his first year in secondary school. Despite his young age, Robert has proven himself very focused on improving life for his local community.

Whilst still in sixth class, Robert began actively campaigning for the provision of a Local Link bus service between Kilcloon, Blackhall and Dunboyne.

He has cited the value of such a service for people of all ages in his community, as a service for the elderly to go to Mass, or to avail of services such as banks, chemists and the post office. He also feels strongly that the provision of a bus will allow younger members of the community to avail of sports facilities and extracurricular activities.

He continues to campaign on improving his community for all residents. Robert has proven to have wisdom and kindness beyond his years.

Robert was nominated by vice-principal, Leonora Acton.

The Meath Garda Youth Awards, sponsored by Centra, recognise the very positive contribution young people make in their communities and are about shining a light on their good works.

An Garda Siochana recognise that a lot of good work is being done by young people in every community throughout county Meath, and that we as a society should be very proud of them.
