Meath Garda Youth Awards
Kells District Winners - Haroldas Munikas and Sean Heffernan Doyle
Haroldas and Sean were secondary school students when in May 2021, a student at their school injured themselves. The injury required immediate medical intervention. Haroldas put pressure on the wound and Sean applied a tourniquet to the injured arm, alleviating the pressure on the wound and stopping the patient’s condition deteriorating before the arrival of teachers and paramedics.
Haroldas and Sean displayed remarkable calmness whilst dealing with this situation. Their approach to the problem and the teamwork required in this instance made a significant difference to the outcome of this incident.
Both individuals are remarkably modest about their contribution here and are an example of how resilient our young people can be when faced with a crisis like that which occurred on that day.
The Meath Garda Youth Awards, sponsored by Centra, recognise the very positive contribution young people make in their communities and are about shining a light on their good works.
An Garda Siochana recognise that a lot of good work is being done by young people in every community throughout county Meath, and that we as a society should be very proud of them.
