Apartment proposal for Navan pub destroyed by fire

A NAVAN pub, which was destroyed by fire five years ago, could be redeveloped as apartments if plans recently lodged with Meath County Council get approval.

KJA Developments Ltd is seeking permission to redevelop the former Flower Hill Lodge public house building, which was gutted in a blaze in May 2016.

Permission is being sought for a change of use of the ground floor of the fire-damaged pub to a one-bedroom apartment and the refurbishment of the first floor over the pub into a one-bedroom apartment.

The plans also include the demolition of fire-damaged structures to the rear of the premises and the construction of a new three-storey apartment block, containing four two-bedroom apartments and four one-bedroom apartments, as well as rear communal open space.

The plans provide for a total of ten apartments. A decision is due on the development on 21st November.

Separately, Meath County Council’s decision to refuse permission for the demolition of the former McDonald’s Pub in Clonee and the development of 45 apartments and three retail units on the site, has been appealed to Bord Pleanala.

Last month, the council shot down plans by Farnwest Trading Ltd which sought permission for the part four-storey, part-six story development on the site of the former pub on Main Street, Clonee. Farnwest Trading Ltd has now lodged an appeal against this decision with ABP.
