Indomitable duo step down after 41 years dedicated service

Wilkinstown Community Centre's outgoing chairman Liam Caffrey and treasurer Vincent Shivnan both stepped down at the group's AGM on 12th October after an incredible 41 years of service.

Liam and Vincent first joined the committee back in 1976 and took office as chairman and treasurer in 1980. Since then they have continued to serve the local community and have played a huge role in the development and running of the centre.

While the two local stalwarts have stepped down as chairman and treasurer, they will continue to be committee members. The new chairman appointed is Gordon Mitchell.

"I think everyone will agree with us when we say words cannot describe our gratitude to Liam and Vincent for their years of dedication and devotion to Wilkinstown Community Centre," said PRO Tara Smith.

"We are delighted they will continue to stay on as valuable members of the committee." A small presentation was made at the AGM to the two men but the committee plans to hold a night to pay tribute to Liam and Vincent at a later date.
