Dunboyne seconds best

Early goals from Daragh Nolan and Luke Harte boosted Dunboyne to a 3-10 to 2-10 victory over Dunshaughlin in today's Premier FC Div 1 final at Pairc Tailteann.

After finishing third and fourth in the group, both these sides advanced impressively to the final and produced an entertaining contest, which went Dunboyne's way.

Those early goals gifted Dunboyne an eight-point lead after eight minutes, but Dunshaughlin refused to quit and battled back to trail by 0-6 to 2-5 at the interval.

They moved to within a point when Danny Quinn's goal helped them close to 1-9 to 2-7 by the 39th minute. However when Paddy Conway added Dunboyne's third goal it effectively put the contest to bed.

There was late drama when the impressive Aaron Murphy netted a penalty, but Dunboyne stood firm in the closing stages to claim the title.
