Champion Colin hits 126 for the season

Champion jockey Colin Keane chalked up winner number 126 for the season at Dundalk this evening to equal a record set by Joseph O'Brien in 2013.

After three runner-up finishes at Thurles yesterday, the Trim man was quickly off the mark at Dundalk this evening when partnering the Ger Lyons-trained Torn to victory in the opener.

“To get to this number is just unbelievable to be honest,” commented Keane who was champion jockey for the first time in 2017 with 100 winners.

He won the title for the second time last year also with 100 winners while in 2018 (82 winners) and 2019 (103) he was the runner-up in the title race.

He will win the title for the third time this year, but tomorrow his attention will turn to Newmarket where he will be in action for Ger Lyons and also for trainers Willie Mullins, Aidan O'Brien and David O' Meara.

Winner number 127 and a new record could be on the cards at the Curragh on Sunday and might even arrive on a horse trained by his father Gerry.
