Facebook's Community Action Grants open for applications

Fourth annual programme for local projects

Facebook has launched the fourth annual Community Action Grants programme in Meath, where its Clonee Data Centre is located, to support local projects.

Facebook is inviting applications for projects that address community needs by putting the power of technology to use for community benefit, connecting people online or off, or improving local STEM education.

Since the launch of the Community Action Grants in 2019 in County Meath, Facebook has invested over €500,000 in the community and its residents through the funding of 43 community projects.

Earlier this year, 13 outstanding community organisations and schools in Meath benefited from the programme.

Projects included an eco-friendly outdoor lab for primary students, an intergenerational programme for a local community centre and nursing home, and a range of STEM projects aimed at supporting young people and marginalised groups who had become increasingly vulnerable during the pandemic.

Facebook’s Data Centre in Clonee has been part of the Meath community since 2016 when they broke ground on the data centre. Since then, Facebook has invested in County Meath and its residents through a number of initiatives such as the Community Action Grants, support of the Meath Library service, Solstice Arts Centre, Kells Resource Centre and other community resources.

The application link and programme terms can be found at datacenters.fb.com/grants and on the Clonee Data Centre Facebook Page.

Applications close on Friday 15th October.
