Cole's men put Longwood to the sword

Two wins out of two constitutes an excellent start for Mike Cole's Na Fianna's side with their recent win over Kiltale followed up this evening with a 2-19 to 0-10 victory against Longwood at Trim.

Na Fianna led all the way building on a 2-6 to 0-6 interval advantage to wrap up the victory.

Barry Slevin scored the opening goal on 12 minutes when he hit a free from well inside his own half and the ball ended up in the back of the Longwood net.

Rory Fagan made the most of some hesitancy in the Longwood defence to grab a second.

Ronan Byrne, Mark Slevin, Noel O'Sullivan, Shane Walsh and Oisin McCloskey all pointed for Na Fianna.

Longwood were unable to find any sustained fluency and succumbed to their second defeat of the campaign and they will be worried by making the drop down to the lower level.

Their cause wasn't helped when Damien Healy picked up a second yellow card early in the second-half.

Slevin and Fagan showed the way in terms of scoring for Na Fianna while Anthony Healy was Longwood's main marksman but all of his eight points came from frees.
