Kilcock Golf Club captain Tommy Tallon presented his prize to overall winner Anthony Doran.

Successful captain's prize competition at Kilcock Golf Club

Last weekend was a busy one for popular Kilcock Golf Club captain Tommy Tallon with the annual and sought-after captain's prize the main event of the weekend.

Tommy is the 2021 captain and duly delivered a successful event to the delight of all the competitors.

Tommy has a long association with Kilcock Golf Club going back almost 40 years.

He joined the club back in 1985 and at that stage it was a nine-hole course.

The club was established a year earlier in 1984 by local landowner Gerry Canning.

While initial members were mainly drawn from the local area, a warm and friendly atmosphere was quickly established and as a result, the membership began to grow.

Runner-up Kevin Fahy receives his prize.

In 1990 land adjacent to the course was purchased and with the expertise of Eddie Hackett, one of the best-known course designers at the time, a testing, but fair, 18-hole course was developed.

In 2007 the members unanimously approved a major course redevelopment plan.

The plan was completed successfully.
