Life on the Road with Christy Moore

RTÉ is to premiere the feature documentary film 'Christy’s Life On the Road' by production company Bang Bang Teo On Wednesday 18th August at 9.30pm. The film will offer a raw exploration and rare inside look at music legend Christy Moore’s private backstage world, building up to his onstage performances.

In 2016, Bang Bang Teo spent six months on the road with Christy Moore, resulting in two one hour films for RTÉ called 'Christy Moore: Journey'. Also shot was a one hour 23 minute feature documentary film called Christy's Life on the Road, which has never before been seen on TV. It features extra footage from Christy Moore: Journey, which was previously unused, and a plethora of footage that was shot intentionally forit.

The film features Moore’s favourite venues, including the Marquee in Cork, and what he refers to as his ‘headquarters’ in Lisdoonvarna. There are also intimate interviews with his band and members of his road crew who have been with him for many years. The film is full of rare backstage footage and raw energy in the build-ups to Moore’s gigs. It will give viewers a new perspective on one of our most treasured performers.

Christy’s Life On the Road gives a unique insight into his protected backstage world, where he immerses himself in the music before going onstage. In the midst of a pandemic, when live performers are truly suffering, this film is particularly timely; it is real evidence of everything that is sorely missed by so many musicians and the rewards both they and their audiences experience from live performance.
